A Wealthier New You
(excerpted from the ‘Money Saving Expert’)
It's not just saving on buying cigarettes, but many policies, including life insurance and private medical insurance and others, are substantially cheaper (ie up to 30%) for non-smokers. You’re classed as a ‘non-smoker’ after a year without smoking, so once you hit that date, always get new quotes and save a fortune.
Here's the simple equation to work out how much you will save per year at current prices once you’ve stopped smoking:-
No. of cigarettes you smoked per day x £90 = Annual Cost
1 cigarette a day is £90
10 cigarettes a day is £900
A packet a day is £1,800
Imagine ... what would you like to do with that extra money you’ll have available?
Exercise
Allow yourself a few moments to imagine what you might most enjoy about your new life when you’re free from smoking.
Now fill in the details in your imagination so that you vividly see yourself in these situations and enjoy the positive feelings you experience.
If you need a few ideas to get your imagination going:
For some people the best thing about stopping smoking is being fitter and healthier - to play with their children or to be able to enjoy sport once again. For others it’s looking younger, being free from the worries of a smoker, their family being happier, feeling more energetic, sleeping better, or simply loving the feeling of being in control.
